Subject: Drexel athletes sign intriguing NIL deals
Date: Wed, 01 Apr 2026

In the last few years, college sports name, image, and likeness (NIL) deals have completely taken over the sports landscape. It seems like every athlete is signing deals for millions of dollars, with schools and businesses alike shelling out as much as they can in order to be represented by the best athletes in the country. While it seems like these massive deals are reserved for the best and biggest schools, a few Drexel athletes have begun to dip into this metaphorical pot, and have inked some pretty sweet deals of their own.

One of the first deals signed by a Drexel athlete was just over a year ago, when men’s soccer player Pete Baxter signed a lucrative deal with Ed’s Buffalo Wings & Pizza. According to sources close to the situation, every time Pete scores a goal for the Dragons, he will receive one free pie from the establishment. Surprisingly, Baxter had been stellar all year, racking up 30 goals for the Dragons. Unfortunately, at the end of the season Baxter became hospitalized due to diabetic symptoms, and has seemingly reached the end of his collegiate soccer career due to these health issues.

Another significant deal has come within the women’s side of the game, with field hockey athlete Kate Chaney partnering up with Drexel’s School of Fashion Design. Originally, this was a confusing partnership, with Chaney showing no signs of an interest in fashion, with Chaney herself being a mechanical engineering major. However, when the School of Fashion Design was asked, they claimed it was because “Chaney is a girl, and girls like fashion. I don’t know, what are you asking me for?”

One of the more unconventional contracts that have come as a result of this new wave in college sports is an agreement between Fine Wine & Good Spirits and last year’s Interfraternity Council MVP Kyle Sanders. Sanders, who represents Theta Chi, scored an impressive 7 touchdowns in the frat’s fall campaign. Following this performance, Fine Wine offered the junior quarterback a $30 gift card every time he rips a shotty and shouts out Fine Wine during his touchdown celebration, and they “pinky-promised” not to card his friends during their next trip to the liquor store. Talk about a win-win!

Look out for these athletes the next time they hit the field, and do whatever possible to support these athletes in as big or little a way as possible, anything helps!
